In an effort to keep our Waypoint Bank community safe and aware, we want to share a recent warning that has been distributed from the IRS of a new scam involving a mailing that serves to deceive recipients into believing they are entitled to a tax refund. The mailing arrives in a cardboard box, with a letter on IRS letterhead. The recipient is asked to provide personal information, including a photo of a driver’s license.
Unfortunately, this is just another ploy for identity thieves to steal personal information and money.
Please do not respond to this mailing. We urge you to continue to be vigilant of unsolicited mailings, emails, texts, and phone calls that claim to be from the IRS.
