Payton Oliverius offers agriculture and banking knowledge to Waypoint Bank customers

Payton, Waypoint Bank Imperial’s loan officer, has a lifetime of agricultural knowledge and passion. Growing up on his family’s ranch north of Bayard Neb., Payton is no stranger to hard work. The ranch runs Black Angus cow-calf pairs. Learning the business side of agriculture was always on Payton’s mind, which led him to attend the University of Nebraska-Kearney and graduate in May 2023. “I decided to pursue a degree in agribusiness because I knew that I wanted to stay in agriculture in any way that I could,” explained Payton. When deciding on a career in banking, he recalled going to the bank with his parents as a child to discuss agricultural loans. Witnessing the process and realizing that a banking career could enable him to assist both existing and new ag producers, he always pictured himself in that role.

Payton feels his biggest accomplishment in life has been achieving the role of loan officer at such a young age. The average age of a loan officer is 44, and Payton is only in his early 20’s. “This was one of my goals going into college. I wanted to make myself prepared for a challenge like being a young loan officer.” He is confident in his role and has made many great relationships with customers in his community. Payton’s ultimate goal is to be able to help his family grow their operations, buy land, and raise cows of his own.

Inspired by Family

Payton’s work ethic came from his parents.  “They have had to work hard for everything they have. This includes buying our ranch when I was young and now purchasing farm ground,” Payton explains. “Just seeing all the hard times that they had to go through to get to where they are today inspires me to push towards my goals in life and makes me realize that they are possible.”payton on horse

Payton has been with Waypoint Bank since February 2023 and is the full-time loan officer at Waypoint Bank – Imperial. “I picked Imperial because of the small-town atmosphere as well as the location. It is close enough to my family’s ranch that if they need my help, I can go.” Payton’s passion lies within his community and his work in guiding his customers to success.
